The Octal HR dashboard is your command centre — it gives you a real-time snapshot of your workforce, pending actions, and recent activity. What you see depends on your user role.

Dashboard layout

The dashboard is divided into three zones:

  • Top bar — Navigation, notifications bell, and your profile menu.
  • Left sidebar — Module navigation: HR, Attendance, Leave, Payroll, Self-Service, and Settings (visible based on role).
  • Main canvas — Your role-specific dashboard with metric cards, charts, and action panels.

Key metrics widgets

The Admin and HR Manager dashboard shows these widgets at the top:

Total active employees

Count of currently employed staff. Click to go to the employee list filtered by "Active".

On leave today

Employees with an approved leave for today. Click to see who is absent and their return dates.

Attendance today

Present / Absent / Late counts for the current date, updated in real-time from biometric or manual punch data.

Pending leave requests

Leaves awaiting your approval. Click to go directly to the approval queue.

Payroll status

Shows the last completed payroll run and suggests the next period to run. Direct link to the payroll run detail page.

Notification centre

Click the bell icon in the top bar to open your notification panel. Notifications are grouped into:

  • Action required — Leave requests, payroll approval, document expiry alerts
  • Informational — New employee joins, payroll processed, system updates

Role-based views

The dashboard adapts to your role:

  • Admin / HR Manager — Full overview: all employees, all attendance, payroll status, pending actions.
  • Payroll Officer — Payroll-centric view: payroll runs, salary structure alerts, export queue.
  • Manager — Team view: only their direct reports' attendance and leave requests.
  • Employee — Personal dashboard: own attendance, leave balance, upcoming payslips, and self-service actions.
