What is a correction?

A correction updates a single day's attendance record after the fact. Common scenarios include:

  • Employee forgot to punch in or out at the biometric device
  • Device was offline and the punch was not captured
  • Check-in time was recorded incorrectly due to device clock drift
  • An Absent marking should be On Leave (leave was applied retrospectively)

Note: A correction changes the record for that day only. It does not affect any other day, and every change is stored in the audit log with the user and timestamp.

What you can correct

Situation What you change
Missed punch Enter the missing check-in or check-out time and set the correct status.
Wrong status Change the status to the correct one (e.g., Absent → On Leave, or Absent → Present).
Wrong time Replace the incorrect check-in / check-out time with the right one.

How to correct a record

Correcting attendance is permission-gated — an authorized HR user makes the change directly. There is no employee request or multi-step approval flow.

1
Go to Attendance → Daily Attendance and select the date (you can also reach the same record from the monthly grid).
2
Find the employee and open their record for that day.
3
Change the check-in time, check-out time, or status as needed. Optionally add a note.
4
Click Save. The status you set is stored as-is — manual corrections are not recomputed from shift rules.

Caution: Corrections are fully logged in the audit trail with the user's name and timestamp. Avoid changing a day's record after payroll has been finalized for that month — the payroll figures will already have used the earlier value.

Audit trail

Every correction creates a log entry containing:

  • Who made the change and when
  • The employee and date affected
  • The saved status and punch times
  • Any note entered

The audit log is available from the Audit Log section. See Audit Log for details.
