Compliance setup — this guide covers statutory, payroll, and regulatory requirements. Octal HR can be configured to support different countries, regions, and organizational policies.

Settings is the core configuration layer for your Octal HR account. It controls how payroll is calculated, how reports are labelled, and how dates and currency are displayed. Access it from Settings, which is organised into tabs — General, Locale, Currency, Working Time, Leave & HR, Payroll, Branding, Security, and Country Presets.

Company details (General tab)

These fields appear on payslips, reports, and throughout the app.

Application name
Shown in the browser tab and sidebar.
Company name
Appears on payslips and reports.
Company tagline
Optional slogan or sub-title.
Company email & phone
Organisation contact details.
Company address
Organisation address used on documents.
Company logo
Uploaded on the Branding tab (JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP, or SVG — max 2 MB). Appears on payslips and the employee portal.

Fiscal year (Working Time tab)

The fiscal year start month is set on the Working Time tab and is used for payroll reports, leave balance resets, and annual income tax calculations. Common choices are July–June or January–December, but you can select any start month.

Currency and locale

Currency (Currency tab)
Set the currency code (ISO 4217, e.g. PKR, USD, AED), the currency symbol, and whether the symbol appears before or after the amount. All salary components, payslips, and reports use this currency.
Date format (Locale tab)
Select the date format that matches your organisation's regional preferences. Options include d M Y, d/m/Y, m/d/Y, and Y-m-d, among others.
Time format (Locale tab)
Choose between 12-hour (03:30 PM) and 24-hour (15:30) time display.
Timezone (Locale tab)
Select the timezone for your organisation. Attendance records, leave requests, schedules, notifications, and audit logs use the selected timezone.
Tip: The Country Presets tab applies locale, currency, timezone, weekend days, working days, and EOBI rates for a country in one click.
